Wine & fruit
Pomace, grape and mash conveyors for wineries
In cellar work the conveying system decides the quality of the product. What arrives crushed cannot be repaired.
Whole grapes, apples and cider fruit are sensitive to pressure. Conventional systems with intermediate bearings in the conveying path crush whatever is guided past those bearings — with premature juice loss and broken pips as the result.
The shaftless spiral has no intermediate bearings in the trough, because it has no shaft that would need bearing. It pulls and pushes the material rather than cutting it. As a side effect we achieve up to two thirds more throughput than systems with intermediate bearings, and because chains and idlers are absent, energy consumption stays low.
At the other end of the process sits material that is demanding in exactly the opposite way: stalks are bulky and strongly fibrous, pomace is moist and tends to stick. Here too the clear cross-section carries.
Construction is in stainless steel, in closed troughs with a hinged cover. That is not a detail — in cellar work everything is cleaned after each run, and what cannot be opened does not get clean.

Typical materials — and what makes them difficult
- Whole grapespressure-sensitive, no juice loss wanted
- Mashviscous, cleaning after every run
- Stems and stalksbulky and strongly fibrous
- Wine and fruit pomacemoist, tends to stick
Tasks we solve here
Grape conveying systemsWhole grapes to the destemmer or straight to the press — in stainless steel troughs with a hinged cover for easy cleaning.
Mash conveying systemsMoving mash from the fermentation tanks to the press, in stainless steel and easy to clean.
Wine and whole-bunch pomaceCarried away from the press to the trailer — flexible up to about 1,600 litres of press size, rigid from 2,300 litres.
Stem and stalk conveyorsCarried away from the destemmer to the trailer — bulky, strongly fibrous material.
Fruit pomace conveyorsMoving fruit pomace from the belt press to the trailer.
Apple and cider fruit conveying systemsMoving apples and cider fruit to the press, guided in tubes or U-shaped troughs.
Häufige Fragen
Are the grapes damaged while being conveyed?
The shaftless spiral has no intermediate bearings in the trough and pulls the material rather than cutting it. Premature juice loss and broken pips are avoided.
How are the systems cleaned?
The stainless steel troughs are built with a hinged cover and are therefore fully accessible — the condition for cleaning after every run.
Which design suits which press size?
For presses up to about 1,600 litres we use flexible conveying spirals, from 2,300 litres rigid spirals.
